On June 2, 2021, Staff Council approved a resolution to advocate for inclusivity in blood donations. We stand against the discriminatory policy that effectively bars homosexual and bisexual men from donating blood. Staff Council is fighting to change this.
The Council also voted to extend the Inclusive Practices for Blood Donations (IPBD) Special Committee for another fiscal year. This gives IPBD until June 2022 to continue their advocacy efforts to include writing a resolution supporting trans people in donating blood, launching a marketing campaign for Staff Council’s inclusive stance, and highlighting other opportunities to help people who are ineligible to donate.
