Graduate and Family Housing waitlist paused

CU Boulder’s Graduate and Family Housing (GFH) has experienced growing interest and a significant increase in the number of housing applications in recent years. Based on current demand and occupancy, the GFH waitlist closed to new applicants. This pause aims to support graduate students currently on the waitlist and set realistic housing expectations for future students, faculty and staff interested in living in GFH apartments. 

Applicants currently on the waitlist will maintain their status and do not need to take any action. GFH will continue to work from the existing waitlist to fill vacancies over the coming months. 

Later this summer, Graduate and Family Housing will contact all applicants on the waitlist to confirm continued interest. The application process will remain closed to new applications until spring 2024.

Alternatives to Graduate and Family Housing

Graduate students receive priority in housing placements. Faculty and staff will be considered for housing after fulfilling graduate student requests. Managers hiring for new faculty and staff positions should refrain from promising or setting expectations for living in on-campus housing. GFH cannot accommodate additional requests at this time.

As you evaluate your housing options, you may need to expand the search area to consider neighboring communities. To support the CU community, Off-Campus Housing & Neighborhood Relations (OCHNR) has compiled resources about other similarly priced apartment communities in the Boulder area to aid in the housing search.

OCHNR can help with the off-campus housing search, including searching for an apartment and roommate, understanding Boulder housing options, providing free lease reviews with our staff attorney, navigating roommate disagreements, understanding Boulder ordinances and advocating for your rights as a tenant. Students, faculty and staff may also use Ralphie’s List, CU Boulder’s off-campus housing database, to search current rental listings in the area.

Next steps

When the application reopens in spring 2024, GFH will update the application website and welcome new applicants to the waitlist. Until the application reopens, consider working with Off-Campus Housing & Neighborhood Relations to identify alternative off-campus housing options.
