Student playing pool at The ConnectionDating can be fun and exciting. But it can also cause some financial stress. When funds are tight, it may feel like your only option is to hang out at home, but you can find fun ways to date without exceeding your budget.

Boulder offers many ways to have fun on a budget. Check out these low-cost date ideas for options both on-campus and in Boulder.

Visit The Connection

The Connection in the UMC offers various activities at student rates. Try bowling, billiards, ping pong and video games for a fun and active date night. Check out The Connection events calendar for trivia nights, live music, tournaments and other free events.

Check out an on-campus event

The Center for Student Involvement hosts free events for students throughout the semester. Find an event that matches your interests. Sign up for a DIY Night, attend a Buffalo Nites event or check out Buffs After Dark, where you can even score free tickets to professional sporting events

Share your love of sports

Many CU sporting events offer free or low-cost entry for students. Students with a sports pass can attend volleyball, soccer, lacrosse, tennis and women’s basketball regular-season home events for free.

You can also explore events and activities at the Rec Center, like the climbing gym or ice skating rink.

Attend a performance from CU Presents

CU Presents offers hundreds of concerts, plays, dance performances, and recitals annually. Many events are free to attend, or you can purchase tickets at a student discount by presenting your Buff OneCard.

Enjoy the great outdoors

Boulder is known for its excellent hiking trails, many of which also work for snowshoeing. Pack a picnic lunch and find the perfect trail for your skill level. Many routes have beautiful views to share with a special someone.
