How to ask for help

When managing academics, activities, work, relationships and other commitments, things can sometimes get out of balance. In these situations, you may need to ask for help.

The Basic Needs Center works in partnership with Student Support and Case Management (SSCM) to help you access the essential resources you need.

What is basic needs insecurity?

Basic needs insecurity can include lack of access to resources such as hygiene, transportation, healthcare, mental wellness, financial stability, sleep, emergency needs for dependents, safety and accessibility.

How to self-refer

Provide our team with information about your concerns, needs and reasons for referral.

STEP 2: Meet with our team

After we receive a referral, our team will set up an intake meeting with you to learn more about your needs and unique situation.

STEP 3: Get connected to resources

Our team collaborates to identify relevant resources and connects you to services that best suit your needs.

Resources we can connect you to

We can connect you to campus food resources including the Buff Pantry, CU Boulder's on-campus food pantry, mobile food pantries and off-campus resources like local food banks or federal benefit programs.

If you are in need of emergency housing, we can provide education on available housing resources and referrals to the appropriate on- or off-campus services.

Need financial assistance? The Student Emergency Fund (SEF) is a stipend that can assist you during unanticipated events that might cause you to pause or stop your educational goals.

Need help navigating and accessing financial, medical, transportation or career resources on campus? We can help with that, too.
