January CU Housing Fair. Jan. 20th, 10-4 pm. UMC Ballroom

CU-Boulder's annual Housing Fair will be held on Wednesday, Jan. 20, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the UMC Glenn Miller Ballroom. Hosted by Off-Campus Housing and Neighborhood Relations, the fair offers students a convenient way to view hundreds of local properties. More than 50 local landlords, property managers and real estate agents will be at the fair.

Free pizza will be served around noon and tons of giveaways also will be available. Off-Campus Housing will be giving one lucky student a 40” smart TV for his/her new rental.

Ralphie’s List, a rental database run by Off-Campus Housing exclusively for CU students, has more than 600 rentals listed. Ralphie’s List also has a roommate finder. To download a list of apartments visit http://ralphieslist.colorado.edu and click on the resources tab. The Apartment Complex Guide is also available for pick up in the UMC room 313.

Off-Campus Housing recommends students consider the following questions when looking for a place to live next year:

  • Is there a rental license on file with the city of Boulder for the property (if it is within Boulder)?
  • How many people are legally zoned to live in the property?
  • Are utilities and/or cable/internet access included in the rent?
  • Who is responsible for yard maintenance and shoveling?
  • What type of security does the unit/property have?
  • Have there ever been any mice or insect problems?
  • What repairs will be made to the unit before move in?

Students who are in the process of signing a lease are encouraged to stop by Off-Campus Housing and Neighborhood Relations in the UMC room 313 to set up an appointment with attorney, Bruce Sarbaugh, for a free lease review. It is important to know what you are agreeing to, before you sign. Bruce’s services are available on Tuesdays and Fridays by appointment.
