TIP SHEET: Humor expert available to discuss popularity of April Fools' Day

Dog wearing novelty glasses.
This Sunday, April Fools’ Day will be celebrated around the world with funny—and not-so-funny—pranks and hoaxes.

The director of CU Boulder’s Humor Research Lab (HuRL) is available for interviews about the holiday’s international popularity and the broader psychology behind what makes something funny.

Peter McGraw, associate professor of marketing and psychology at Leeds School of Business, has extensively studied the science of humor with his research team at HuRL. His book, The Humor Code: A Global Search for What Makes Things Funny, attempts to establish a comprehensive theory behind what makes us laugh.
