Kappa Delta Chi Sorority, Inc. is the newest addition to Fraternity & Sorority Life at CU Boulder.
The university’s Multicultural Greek Council (MGC) voted to accept the Latina-founded organization in December. The sorority will begin recruiting members for its first class of members, or charter members, this spring 2023.
Kappa Delta Chi is the fourth sorority to join MGC. There are three culturally-based fraternities on the council as well. MGC is dedicated to giving students a place to explore their culture and identity through close friendships and mentorships, community service, and personal and leadership development opportunities.

Kappa Delta Chi Sorority, Inc. started as a way to unify Latinx students
Kappa Delta Chi Sorority, Inc. was founded by four female students at Texas Tech University in 1987 when they recognized the need to bring Latina students together to promote leadership among all women at the university.
With strong foundations of scholastic standards, service and friendship, the four founders created a sisterhood that has lasted more than three decades. Over the years, the sorority has grown to include women of various backgrounds and cultures, and has inducted dozens of chapters across the country.
Two of these chapters are our neighbors—the Gamma Epsilon chapter at the University of Northern Colorado and Beta Eta Chapter at Colorado State University, making the CU Boulder chapter the third to unify students in Colorado.
Members are dedicated to community service
One of the sorority’s pillars is service to local communities with an emphasis on the Latinx population. The members’ philanthropic work provides more than 40,000 hours of community service annually.
The sorority’s official philanthropy is the American Cancer Society since cancer awareness, early detection and cancer research are critical health issues in the members’ communities. Kappa Delta Chi’s support and monetary donations are frequently placed in historically marginalized communities and Latinx outreach efforts.
The organization also focuses their service endeavors on educational and leadership development programs through the Kappa Delta Chi Foundation, which provides members the financial support to become strong leaders through professional development, community service, academics and lifelong learning.

The sorority is the seventh organization to join MGC
Kappa Delta Chi’s addition to MGC at CU Boulder makes it the seventh organization in the council. MGC is now made up of three fraternities and four sororities:

- Pi Delta Psi Fraternity, Inc.
- Pi Lambda Chi Latina Sorority, Inc.
- Sigma Lambda Beta International Fraternity, Inc.
- Sigma Lambda Gamma National Sorority, Inc.
- Sigma Psi Zeta Sorority, Inc.
- Tau Psi Omega Fraternity, Inc.
Each of the MGC organizations in Fraternity & Sorority Life provide students with opportunities to develop sisterhood or brotherhood, leadership skills, cultural awareness and academic scholarship, as well as the ability to participate in service to the community.
