Several members of the university community have started to work on the mid-cycle assurance argument due in May 2024 in accordance with the requirements of the Higher Learning Commission Open Pathway. As the preparation is underway, university leadership, faculty, staff and students will be asked to provide input and comments to the draft report.

In the filing of the assurance argument, the university will provide evidence showing continuous improvement in meeting each of the five criteria for accreditation and associated core components. Also included in this filing will be updates on two recommendations from the March 2020 report: to design and implement a common curriculum that defines the learning experience and intended learning outcomes for all CU undergraduates, in alignment with the Academic Futures strategic initiative, and to create a cross-campus plan for assessing student learning.

In December 2019, a team of evaluators from the Higher Learning Commission visited CU Boulder for its 10-year accreditation review and provided recommendations for continued improvement in a report filed in March 2020. The assurance argument filing, due in spring 2024, marks year four in the 10-year accreditation cycle. No site visit will be required.

Katherine Eggert, senior vice provost for academic planning and assessment, is leading the accreditation team. Email her and the accreditation team with questions, and visit accreditation and state authorization website for more information.
