Career Services offers free on-demand tools to explore career options, find internship and job postings, update your resume and more.  

Explore career options 

It’s OK not to know what you want to do with your life. In fact, most people will change jobs and career fields several times. As you begin searching for a job or internship, exploring different career paths and understanding what positions may interest you can be beneficial. 

Here are free tools to help you explore career options:  

  • You can take a different approach to identifying careers that interest you by considering what challenges you would like to tackle instead of job titles. Check out the free Challenge Cards to clarify the problems you want to help solve.  
  • Be prepared to answer the question, “What will you do with that major?” Check out this free tool to help you answer that question. Turn on your VPN to access the tool if you're not on campus.

Find job and internship opportunities with Handshake 

Handshake is the best place for Buffs to find internships and entry-level job postings. Handshake is CU Boulder’s online recruiting tool used by thousands of employers to help you start your career journey. 

Here are tips to make the most of Handshake: 

  • Complete your profile. Similar to LinkedIn, you are much more likely to get noticed on Handshake if you have a completed and public profile. Follow these steps for setting up your Handshake profile. 
  • Set up saved searches. With saved searches, you’ll receive emails when employers add positions that meet your search criteria. This can help so you don’t have to log in whenever you want to look for jobs or internships. Better yet, you can learn about new opportunities and companies regularly. 
  • Handshake has recently released a career copilot, Coco, an AI tool intended to make your internship or job search easier.  

Create a strong resume 

As you update your resume for different applications, use the AI resume editor by Quinncia to get instant feedback and make improvements. This free online tool uses data science, machine learning and natural language processing to provide personalized feedback. And it’s designed to work with resumes from many different fields across various industries.  

Here are tips to make the most of Quinncia: 

  • Upload your resume. If you don’t have a resume started yet, you can use one of the templates to get started.  
  • Review feedback. Update and enhance your resume using the feedback provided. It’s OK if you don’t have the highest score, as you have unlimited uploads to improve your resume.
