April is National Poetry Month and the University Libraries is hosting programming at the East Entrance of Norlin Library on April 9 and 10 from 11 a.m. - 1 p.m. both days. Members of the CU Boulder community can contribute to a collaborative poem, engage with librarians and receive a pocket poem to carry throughout the day.
Pocket poems will also be available at each of the five campus libraries’ service desks throughout the month of April.
Our guide to National Poetry Month
The theme for this year’s National Poetry Month takes inspiration from the poem "blessing the boats" by Lucille Clifton and and its final lines,
“...and may you in your innocence
sail through this to that"
The Academy of American Poets launched National Poetry Month to encourage us to reflect on the importance of poetry in our lives, communities and culture. Over the years, it has become one of the largest literary celebrations in the world, with tens of millions of readers, students, K–12 teachers, librarians, booksellers, literary events curators, publishers, families, and—of course—poets, marking poetry’s important place in our lives.
