Inclusive Excellence

Council members will update the campus community about its work during the 2021–22 academic year, answer questions, and invite students, staff and faculty to join a discussion on the university’s next steps for promoting diversity, equity and inclusion across the campus.

Gov. Jared Polis signed a legislative bill into law, declaring Juneteenth a state holiday. The holiday recognizes the emancipation of enslaved African Americans and celebrates the self-determination of Black Americans. This year, the university will offer a floating personal observance day for all leave-eligible faculty and staff.

This month’s update highlights the IDEA Council, the Campus Culture Survey and next steps, the HHMI Inclusive Excellence Learning Community, the President’s DEI Award winners, a Human Resources workshop and our practice of inclusion.

The university is expanding the number of all-gender bathrooms available to students, faculty and staff and individuals and families who visit the CU Boulder campus.

The Center for African and African American Studies will host Assistant Professor Stephanie Toliver for a lecture exploring Black storytelling, Afrofuturism and “womanism’s” role in qualitative research. Toliver will guide attendees through understanding the impact of Black storytelling passed from generation to generation.
