Emma Payne

Emma Payne is a PhD student in Environmental Engineering, also pursuing a graduate certificate in Global Engineering. Emma is advised by Prof. Karl Linden and her research is on UV advanced oxidation. She received a bachelor's degree in Environmental Engineering from Cornell University in 2021. Emma has experience working on municipal drinking water treatment projects for an environmental engineering consulting firm. She became interested in the field of global engineering through her involvement with her university's chapter of Engineers for a Sustainable World and in 2022 completed an internship with Sanergy in Nairobi, Kenya. Emma is interested in WASH within the field of global engineering and particularly in drinking water treatment solutions for low-resource settings. In her free time, she likes to hike, mountain bike, and play the guitar.
