John Edem Ecklu is currently pursuing his Ph.D., focusing his research on assessing the potential of climate financing to support the resilience of water systems, particularly in vulnerable settings. Dr. Evan Thomas serves as John's advisor.

He earned his bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology in Kumasi, Ghana. During his undergraduate studies, John's thesis focused on assessing water accessibility and the associated cost implications for a rural town.

Prior to joining CU, John gained four years of professional experience in the water and sanitation sector. He served as a project engineer at TREND Group, a WASH consultancy firm in Ghana. In this role, he contributed to a diverse range of projects spanning various regions in Ghana. His work involved collaboration with local agencies and international organizations, including UNICEF. Some of the projects he was involved in encompassed the design and supervision of sustainable WASH infrastructure for schools in low-income urban communities and the provision of technical support to enhance sanitation coverage in rural communities.

John is deeply passionate about devising innovative WASH solutions that extend beyond mere infrastructure development, aiming for enduring impacts in developing countries. Additionally, he has a keen interest in outdoor activities, particularly cycling.
