La Jara, Colorado Project 2021

The Domestic Team is currently working with a group of Community Engineering Corps engineers to help design a preliminary engineering report for the town of La Jara, Colorado. This town is seeking to update its water distribution system in order to gain additional pressure and storage in order to ensure adequate supply for the town residences and facilities, along with improved fire fighting capacity. This report identifies a variety of alternatives for the town and will eventually propose a certain course of action for how to update the system.

Our group has been working to research and describe different alternatives in areas including the system’s storage volume and fire flows, the distribution system, and disinfection. We have filled out a majority of the alternatives sections on the preliminary engineering report and are now working on cost estimates and details on the final alternatives. We are currently planning a virtual workshop with the town to refine our report and start determining our recommended alternatives.
