Lab Resources and Agreement

I aim to be clear in my expectations of people in my lab, and clear in what they can expect from me. To that end, I have put together a lab agreement, which outlines the lab goals and expectations, as well as my commitment to my research group.

I encourage everyone in my lab to complete an Individual Development Plan to outline their short- and long-term goals and identify strategies to reach them. Example IDP is here.

Postdocs

I do not currently have open postdoctoral positions available in my lab.

Graduate Students

Individuals interested in working with me through the Ecology & Evolutionary Biology (EBIO) M.S. or Ph.D. programs should contact me directly before applying to the program. I strongly encourage students working with me to also complete the IBG Certificate program. My lab's research is largely statistical in nature, leveraging large genomic and phenotypic datasets, to answer questions about complex traits. Students with statistical or computational backgrounds are encouraged to apply.

If you are interested in working with me, your email should include an introduction, a description of your research interests and how they overlap with my own research, and a note about why you are interested in graduate school and what your long-term career goals are. Include a CV and a scientific writing sample if possible.

As an advisor, I believe students should take ownership of their projects and work towards independence. I will help at each step of the way in building your skills towards becoming an independent investigator.

Undergraduate Students

Undergraduate research experience is critical for those interested in pursuing a graduate education or a career in the sciences. I am always interested in mentoring motivated undergraduate students in honors projects or independent research projects for credit. Please see the link below for information on EBIO undergraduate research.

My goal is that student projects result in a peer-reviewed publication, and I will make every effort to help towards that goal.
