Current Student Job Opportunities

Dear LING grads,

We are seeking a sound tech for our LING graduate recognition ceremony on Thurs May 8, 11:00-1:00 in Muenzinger Auditorium (MUEN E050) with responsibilities delineated below. Start date is asap! If interested, please respond to Linda and me by Friday 4/19, close of business. The pay is $22/hour with a current 20-hour cap (if additional hours are needed, we can raise the cap). The position does require use of a device connected to the AV system in the room, and I can furnish a fast Macbook Pro for that purpose if you’d like to use it. Here are the responsibilities:

  1. Use a created PowerPoint slide show to run during the graduation ceremony, containing images of Boulder/campus, candid shots solicited from students, and graduate profiles. (Ethan and Linda are creating and coordinating this part)
  2. Run audio and slides during the ceremony.
    1. We will have a processional and recessional this year, so we plan to play appropriate music during those phases of the ceremony.
    2. Music choices will be coordinated with Laura.
    3. Troubleshoot any audio input/output issues that might arise, but likely won’t!
    4. We will transition between a couple of different slide decks during the ceremony (a random deck and then a deck of with profiles of specific students being honored for thesis and other achievements). The tech will manage those transitions on their device.
    5. You must feel confident in audio input/output issues and coordinating music with the slides.
  3. A run through of graduation will happen the week of graduation (date TBD) we will need sound tech to be able to attend the run through (about 1 hour)

You will have a lot of advice and support from me, Linda, and Ethan as you perform these tasks. Thanks for considering!
