Student Self-Advocacy

In this presentation we explore generational trends for today’s college students, define self-advocacy and why it is so important, and learn and practice how to shape potentially challenging conversations.

SSCM 101

In this presentation we describe Student Support and Case Management services, when someone should refer a student to our office, how to refer a student to our office and best practices when working with a student who is facing a difficult situation.

We can also customize presentations to address your specific needs.

Call 911 if there is an emergency or imminent threat.
Student Support & Case Management is not an emergency service.
The case manager and SSCM play a secondary role in emergency situations and should only be contacted after contacting emergency response personnel.

Student Support & Case Management is a non-confidential service. If you disclose that you or someone else has been impacted by sexual misconduct, protected-class discrimination or harassment, intimate partner violence, stalking or related retaliation, we are required to share that information to the CU Office of Institutional Equity and Compliance (OIEC) for outreach regarding support and reporting options. You are not required to respond to OIEC. If you are in need of support, OIEC provides a list of resources, including confidential assistance. If you have questions before you want to submit this type of information, please contact the confidential Office of Victim Assistance (OVA).

Additionally, please note that the university takes disclosures around threat of harm to self or others seriously and when information of this nature is received, it will be shared with the appropriate offices to offer additional support and resources.
