The Ann and H.J. Smead Department of Aerospace Engineering Sciences at the University of Colorado Boulder is welcoming four new faculty members for 2023-2024. Meet the team and see why we're so excited about these talented individuals:
Assistant Professor Katya Arquilla
Katya Arquilla is joining the department as an assistant professor in the bioastronautics focus area. The focus of her research is how humans interact with and adapt to complex systems including spacecraft, aircraft, autonomous/robotic systems, Earth’s changing climate, and more.
Assistant Professor Khosro Ghobadi-Far
Khosro Ghobadi-Far is joining Smead Aerospace and the Cooperative Institute for Research in Environmental Sciences as an assistant professor. He has a MS and PhD in geodesy, and before joining CU Boulder, was a postdoctoral researcher working on monitoring of water resources using space geodetic techniques.
Assistant Professor Sean Peters
Dr. Sean Peters is a new assistant professor in Smead Aerospace whose research focuses on developing passive radar systems and signal processing techniques that use ambient radio emissions as signals of opportunity for Earth and planetary radar remote sensing.
Teaching Assistant Professor Matt Rhode
Matt Rhode is a new teaching assistant professor in Smead Aerospace, but he is no stranger to the department, with more than two decades of experience as machine shop manager and teaching classes as a member of staff.
