The APS Department has relationships with scientific institutions, organizations, and corporations both in Boulder and around world. Students frequently conduct research with professors in other departments and with researcher scientists at one of the many Boulder-based research institutions, and some even travel to the other side of the world- as far away as the South Pole! As one of the cities with the highest PhD-per-captia rating in the US, largely due to the local space industry, Boulder is the ideal location to build connections with the astrophysical and space communities. Boulder's active outdoor culture and gorgeous mountain views make it a magnet for the community's most influential people, hosting international conferences and spacecraft mission science team meetings on a regular basis.
