Mission statement: Peer to Peer Mentoring - P2P - is a graduate student run organization that aims to support graduate students in the Biochemistry department from their first year to post-graduation.

First-year Peer Mentoring Program

We match incoming first-year graduate students with second year+ graduate student mentors to help aid the transition to grad school and improve integration into the department. Mentors serve as a resource to answer questions about all of the challenges of the first year of grad school, including moving to Boulder, advise on rotations and teaching, and help with scientific writing. P2P supports mentors through a mentor training module at the start of the year as well as sending monthly conversation topics to remind mentors what milestones the first-year students are approaching. Additionally, we host writing workshops for all first-year students to get feedback on the proposal writing that is part of the first year Biochemistry curriculum.

This is a completely volunteer based program and we couldn’t do it without our wonderful grad student mentors. Interested in being a mentor?

CU Boulder Biochemistry Graduate Student – Alumni Network

The Graduate Student – Alumni Network aims to increase post-defense success by connecting current students and program alumni over casual socials, lunch seminars, and career fairs. Program events will enable students to explore potential post-defense job positions, create a shortlist of future employers, and develop informal mentoring relationships.

As part of this program, P2P hosts annual networking events, lunches with local alumni, and various job application preparation workshops.

Other events

P2P also supports graduate students through events not part of either of our main programs. This includes things like hosting an orals exam prep night and pairing with other student committees to host department-wide social events.
