Project Description
"The Model" is a four-part dance presentation documenting some ways in which Asian Americans have been historically oppressed and abused. The first dance presentation centers the internment of Japanese Americans after the bombing of Pearl Harbor on December 7th, 1941. The presentation then addresses prevalent school-yard stereotypes before exploring how Asian American women continue to be hyper-sexualized. The final presentation illuminates a few of the modes through which the COVID-19 pandemic directly impacted Hannah Rosenfield, the presentation’s choreographer and director.
About the Artist
Hannah Rosenfield was born in Thái Nguyên Village situated in the Thái Nguyên Providence of Vietnam. She was adopted when she was five months old, and has developed a passion for ballet ever since. When Hannah isn’t dancing, she can be found reading, sewing, or watching World War II documentaries or the Food Network with her mom and rescue dog, Napoleon.
