Franklin Chilaka is a first-year doctoral student in the Educational Foundations, Policy and Practice (EFPP) Ph.D. program in the School of Education at the University of Colorado Boulder. His research interest examines the relationship between holistic mentorship and Black LGBTQ men's self-efficacy and persistence in higher education. Prior to joining the Crown Institute, Franklin served in many higher education roles in residence life, student conduct, affinity-based mentoring, and first year experience. Born and raised in California, Franklin holds an MA in Student Affairs Administration from Michigan State University and a BA in Sociology and Black Studies from the University of California, Santa Barbara. Franklin works on the Mindful Campus Program. In his free time, Franklin enjoys being active, music, cooking and spending time with friends and family.
