Julia's research interests are in data mining and leveraging ubiquitous devices (mobile, wearable, and IOT) for data collection, fusion, and analysis. She is especially interested in the potential for these devices in improving healthcare quality, affordability, and accessibility, as well as applications in environmental science, air quality modeling, and urban computing. 
 
Julia is a passionate long-distance runner with a longstanding interest in the human body, human behavior, and analyzing her own training and race performance data collected by her beloved Garmin watch. She graduated from The University of Texas at Austin with a B.S. in Biomedical Engineering and is currently pursuing her Ph.D. in Computer Science, advised by Professor Qin Lv.
