Maggie Perkoff is a second year PhD Student in the departments of Computer Science and Cognitive Science.  She is focused on using natural language processing to enhance Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) devices for individuals with cognitive, motor, and vocal impairments.  She also works on Dialog Act classification as part of the TalkBack project which provides teachers in the Boulder Valley School District with valuable classroom dialogue feedback.  She double majored in Computer Science and Linguistics at Haverford College in Pennsylvania where she pursued research on automated sign language recognition.  She is jointly advised by Jim Martin and Clayton Lewis and supervised by her dog Walnut.
