How to Provide 2022 Tax Information
In order to receive financial aid for the Fall 2024 and Spring 2025 school year, we need to understand your 2022 tax filing. To determine what tax information you need to provide, please answer the following question:
For 2022, have you completed your income tax return?
Tax returns are most commonly submitted to the IRS using form 1040. This also includes foreign tax return, or a tax return with Puerto Rico, another U.S. territory, or Freely Associated State.
Submit a 2022 Tax Return Transcript
To get a copy of your 2022 Tax Return Transcript, follow the instructions on the "Get Transcript" IRS webpage.
If you cannot complete a Tax Return Transcript: Submit a copy of your 1040 and be sure to:
- Submit all pages of the 1040, including schedules 1, 2 and 3
- Write the Student ID (what's this?) on each side of every page, and
- It must be signed by the tax filer, or the tax preparer must provide their name and SSN, EIN or PTIN.
If you filed a Puerto Rican or foreign income tax return: You must submit a signed copy of the return filed, translated to English, and currency converted to U.S. Dollars.
Please review these basic income tax filing requirements to confirm that you don't need to file.
If you filed a Puerto Rican or foreign income tax return: You must submit a signed copy of the return filed, translated to English, and currency converted to U.S. Dollars.
If you, your parents or your spouse are not required to file an income tax return for 2022, please complete one of the following:
- Parent Non-Filer Statement
(form can also be used to report non-filer status for parent's spouse) - Student Non-Filer Statement
(form can also be used to report non-filer status for student's spouse)
If you are required to file, complete that first and then return to this page within 2-3 weeks to determine your next steps. Please note, application requirements are time sensitive and any delays may have negative repercussions. Please contact our office to discuss your circumstances.
Tax Extension Filers: If you or your parents filed for a tax extension, please submit a copy of your 4868 IRS Tax Extension form or documentation from the IRS that confirms approval for extended filing or non-filing (dated after Dec. 31, 2023).
Victims of Identity Theft
If you've been asked by our office to provide a Tax Return Transcript or to import tax info into the FAFSA, but are unable to do so because of a recent tax-related identity theft, please submit the following to our office:
- A signed 2023 IRS Form 1040 and applicable schedules
- IRS 4674C (a letter from the IRS acknowledging the identity theft) or a signed and dated statement indicating that you were a victim of tax-related identity theft and that the IRS has been made aware of it.
Tax filers may inform the IRS of the tax-related identity theft by calling the IRS’s Identity Protection Specialized Unit (IPSU) at 1–800–908–4490. Tax filers may also submit another official IRS transcript or equivalent document provided by the IRS if it includes all of the income and tax information required to be verified.
