“For millenia, the origin of life has been an active topic of debate and investigation. Only recently has substantial progress been made that begins to put together a consistent and coherent picture the time period leading up to a 'habitable solar system'; the first 50-100 million years after the Sun and planets formed. This epoch witnessed the emergence of the planets to very near their present masses. Much remains unclear, however, of the nature of this primordial evolution that set the stage for life. This discussion will synthesize what we know, highlight key points of agreement and contention, and to provide recommendations for progress.

Specifically, the focus will be on the earliest times. Hence, the title of this public event: “Before Life”.”
