For his 2022-2023 Jewish Studies Capstone Project, Shane used written and visual sources produced by right-wing extremist groups from the Mazal Holocaust Collection to assess how these groups utilize Holocaust denial as part of their political rhetoric. He found that Holocaust denial is never simply advanced for the sake of Holocaust denial by these groups—it is always in concert with their other hateful rhetoric. In his project, Shane identifies four ways in which the extremist groups utilize Holocaust denial to advance their political agendas.
