Principal Investigator
Andrew hails from New York and received his B.A. in Chemistry from Columbia University. He then went to the University of California, Berkeley where he received his Ph. D in Chemistry. After postdoctoral fellowships at Stanford University and the University of California, San Diego, he started as an Assistant Professor at the University of Colorado Boulder in 2012. For more information see his Curriculum Vitae. When not doing professor-y things, he likes to read and run, though not at the same time.
Graduate Students
Talaial is a Chemical Engineering graduate student. He received a B.S. in Chemical Engineering from Drexel University. He is interested in investigating the inertial cavitation of lipid coated particles for transport in dense biological environments. In his free time, he likes to run.
Taylor is a Biological Engineering graduate student. He received his B.S. in Chemical and Biological Engineering from Colorado State University where he worked on natural product synthesis. Now, Taylor is interested in developing new particle-based immunotherapeutic delivery systems for the treatment of cancer.
Bryce Bower is a Biological Engineering graduate student. He received a B. S. E. from University of Michigan in chemical engineering. He is investigating the behavior of affibodies and enzymes in tumor models. Bryce enjoys hiking, running, and cooking.
Shane is a Biological Engineering graduate student. He received his B. S. in Engineering with a biomedical concentration from Messiah College where he also minored in chemistry. He is interested in researching the cellular trafficking of multivalent nanoparticle-protein complexes for therapeutic purposes. Shane loves Colorado but will always be a Philadelphia boy at heart and loves all Philly sports teams.
Lillian is pursuing a PhD in Materials Engineering, focusing on 3D printing of polymers with ultrasound, with an interest in sustainable materials and energy-efficient manufacturing. Before joining the lab, she received a B.S. in Materials Science from University of Idaho and worked at GlobalFoundries in semiconductor fabrication. Outside of lab, she enjoys backpacking, foraging, and fiber arts.
Sven Arnar Saemundsson is a Biological Engineering graduate student. He received a B.S. in Chemical Engineering from Louisiana State University before joining the lab. He is interested in designing in-vitro tumor models with tunable properties, such as hypoxia. He was an NCAA Division 1 swimmer at LSU and competed in the Youth Olympic Games in 2014.
Undergraduate Students
Nando is a Chemistry undergraduate at the University of Barcelona. As an awardee of the Europe-Colorado Mobility Program, he joined the lab to undertake his Undergraduate Final Research Project during the spring semester of 2024. His research interests lie in the wide range of applications nanotechnology offers, specifically in the medical field. Currently, he is primarily focused on the targeted radical polymerization of biomaterials triggered by HIFU.
María Rueda is a Biomedical Engineering undergraduate international student from Valencia, Spain. She is soon receiving her bachelor from the Polytechnic University of Valencia and is currently doing a research internship at CU Boulder in the field of immunoengineering and drug delivery systems.
Ashi is a Chemical and Biological Engineering undergraduate student. She is interested in developing a thermochemical process for separating cellulose and PET from polycotton blended fabrics. In the future, she hopes to join a graduate program and continue with higher education.
