Our group actively contributes to CU Boulder’s commitment to creating a diverse environment and inclusive culture. We aspire to engage all members of our community irrespective of race, religion, color, gender, socioeconomic status, etc., and to meaningfully and equitably support them. We believe that only by valuing and respecting the merits of diverse cultural backgrounds and identities, we are able to facilitate innovative and inclusive approaches to advance scientific breakthroughs, launch new technologies, and educate the next generation of scientists and engineers capable of addressing societal challenges. We aim to contribute to greater equity and inclusivity in engineering research and industry by equipping our lab graduates with the knowledge and tools to be effective leaders and innovators.

Towards this goal and to effectively communicate our science to the broader public, our lab is involved in a variety of outreach activities on campus, in the greater Denver area, and in rural parts of Colorado. Please refer to the following initiatives the lab is involved in.

  • Build a Better Bug Project. A recent press release about this work. We are actively recruiting undergraduate and Masters students (with strong electronics hardware or software experience) to be a part of this project - please reach out to Prof. Jayaram directly to discuss your interests.
  • Participating/Driving departmental K12 outreach events and initiatives - EEE Fair
  • Partnering with CU Science Discovery for a variety of their programs including Family STEAMFest, Teen Science Cafe, etc.
  • Dr. Jayaram is also currently chairing the Mechanical Engineering's K-12 Outreach Committee and helping coordinate efforts at the departmental level.
