Colorado Law will offer the following courses remotely in summer 2020. Please note that even though the courses will be offered remotely, they will be graded in accordance with normal law school rules.

Maymester: May 11-29

  • Students can only take one course during the Maymester session.
  • The last day to add or drop a Maymester course is May 12 at 11:59 p.m.
  • The last day to drop a Maymester course with a "W" grade is May 21 at 11:59 p.m.

LAWS 7051 Transactional Drafting (2 credits)—Amy Bauer (Online)

Capped at 19 students. This course will teach the principles of contemporary commercial drafting and introduce documents used in a variety of transactions. The skills gained will be applicable to any transactional practice and will also be useful to litigators. On finishing the course, students will know the business purpose of each contract concept, how to translate the business deal into contract concepts, how to draft each of a contract's parts with clarity and without ambiguity, how to add value to a deal, how to work through the drafting process, and how to review and comment on a contract.

LAWS 6363 Evidence & Trial Practice (5 credits)—Colene Robinson (Hybrid Remote/Online)

Generally meets 9 a.m.-noon and 1-2:30 p.m. Monday-Friday. Capped at 20 students.

Explores evidence in the applied context of trials. Studies methods and forms of proof in litigation, including detailed consideration of relevancy, hearsay, impeachment, privileges and the use of expert witnesses. Also covers the trial, from opening statements through closing arguments, in practice. This course combines Trial Advocacy and Evidence and meets the Evidence graduation requirement. Students cannot get credit for LAWS 6363 and either of the followin: LAWS 6353 (Evidence) and LAWS 6109 (Trial Advocacy).

LAWS 6211 Corporations (3 credits)—Erik Gerding (Hybrid Remote/Online)

Course will meet June 1-25 (will be scheduled in BVS term). Exam on June 26. Monday-Friday, 6-8 p.m. No enrollment cap.

Covers formation of corporations and their management; relations among shareholders, officers, and directors; the impact of federal legislation on directors' duties; and the special problems of closed corporations. Students who take this course cannot also receive course credit for Business Associations (LAWS 7621).

July (B term): July 7-August 7

  • Last day to add or drop a B term course is July 10 at 11:59 p.m.
  • Last day to drop a B term course with a “W” grade is July 27 at 11:59 p.m.

LAWS 7409 Legal Negotiations (3 credits)—Erik Gerding (Hybrid Remote/Online)

Monday-Friday, 11 a.m.-Noon, [break], 1-3:45 p.m. No enrollment cap.

Explores the fundamentals of effective negotiation techniques for lawyers. Students engage in simulations of legal disputes, transactions, and other kinds of negotiations.
