Job Summary

The University Libraries encourages applications for a Building Maintenance Assistant! This position assists the Library Building Manager and Assistant Building Manager in the maintenance of the inspiring spaces of the Libraries. These spaces house the University Libraries' collections and personnel in addition to serving the students. Day to day, this role moves, repairs, and coordinates disposal of equipment, furniture, etc., and builds and maintains inventory lists of furniture.

What Your Key Responsibilities Will Be

Coordinate the Moving, Rearranging, and Disposing of Furniture and Equipment

  • With guidance from the Assistant Buildings Manager, will perform minor repairs, assemble new furniture, reconfigure existing furniture, and dispose of furniture and equipment for the Libraries. Position submits requests in the asset management system for Libraries property. Will work with student assistants to coordinate and schedule moves for Libraries personnel.

Assist with Supervision of Student Assistants

  • Supervises student workers in Building Management operations with guidance from Assistant Buildings Manager. Communicates' tasks to student assistants and ensures that work is completed accurately.

Maintain Storage Areas

  • Regularly reviews and maintains libraries storage areas. Updates and supervises online database of libraries surplus furniture. Maintains inventory database of shelving materials and attic stocks located in Norlin and Distribution Center. Systematically supervises emergency supplies, and requests new supplies when needed.

  • This position is working in-person.
  • This position must be available for some weekend/after-hours work and some schedule flexibility with advance notice.
  • This role is designated as Essential Services. A designation of Essential Services means that the employee is required to report to work at times when the campus is closed due to fire, explosion, inclement weather or other emergency situations

What We Can Offer

The salary range for this position is $38,000 - $41,712.

What We Require

  • Must be a Colorado Resident.
  • Must have a valid U.S. Driver's License.

What You Will Need

  • Ability to assemble and disassemble furniture.
  • Familiarity with a variety of tools.

What We Would Like You to Have

  • Three to six months related to moving and/or construction experience.
  • Experience with general labor.
  • Experience working in a University Library setting.
