Institution of Sustainability Measures at United States Air Force Academy Athletic Facilities with Long Term Goal of Zero Net Waste Generation
This project aims to build a strategic vision and educate the organization on the benefits of a zero-waste culture for Air Force Academy Athletics. To accomplish this goal, a phased approach towards zero waste, including substantial shifts in current supply chain necessary to support sports events and venues, will incorporate current sustainable business practices into normalcy. To facilitate the change, a template for culture change involving athletics stakeholders (AF Athletics, Air Base Wing, Training Wing, multimedia right holders {IMG, Airmark}, cadets, faculty, community) will be prepared. The template will establish a roadmap by which to implement the strategic plan. Finally, the project will apply plans during several sporting events next season for Football, Basketball, and Hockey to gauge how much change will be required throughout the march towards Zero Waste generation.
