The MENV Career Development Office prepares its students for careers across all industries the private, public, and nonprofit sectors. Through our innovative approach to career preparation, we equip our students with meaningful and practical ways to land a job in their chosen field. In a time where industry is changing rapidly, MENV provides a pathway for students to tailor their degree to the unique needs of their chosen industry.

We offer a comprehensive suite of career services to our students and alumni. Our career coaches provide one-on-one support, as well as workshops, in-class trainings, and peer-to-peer mentoring opportunities. The Career Development Office can help you with building your résumé, updating your LinkedIn profile, informational interviews, networking and relationship building, negotiation, executive presence, crafting your narrative, and much more. In addition to group and one-on-one offerings, we host many events throughout the year to help you build your skills and your network, to acquire the job you desire.

Over 40% of graduates secured employment prior to graduation. Overall, 91% of alumni reported that their current position is sustainability-related with that same percentage reporting job satisfaction.

Career Advising Services

A broad conversation to explore career goals, assess skills and interests, and develop a strategic plan for professional growth. This session can include discussions on career transitions, industry insights, and long-term planning.

A focused session on job search strategies, including networking, leveraging job boards, tailoring applications, and optimizing LinkedIn profiles. This meeting type is to help identify opportunities, home in on specific job titles, and start a structure job application process.

A detailed evaluation of your resume to ensure it effectively highlights relevant skills, experience, and achievements. This session provides tailored feedback on formatting, language, and content to align with industry expectations and job postings.

A focused session to refine your cover letter, ensuring it effectively conveys your qualifications, enthusiasm, and alignment with the job. Feedback includes structure, tone, and customization strategies to make your application stand out.

A detailed review of a specific job application, including resume, cover letter, and supplemental materials, to ensure alignment with the job description and employer expectations. This session also covers strategies for optimizing application materials and addressing key qualifications.

A strategic discussion on how to prepare for interviews, including common questions, storytelling techniques, and research strategies. This session helps build confidence and refine responses to effectively showcase skills and experience.

  • Required student/alum prep: Provide a link to the specific job you are preparing for and 2-3 examples of jobs you are seeking and/or organizations you are interested in

A simulated interview experience tailored to a specific job or industry, with real-time feedback on responses, delivery, and body language. Case interview practice includes structured problem-solving techniques for roles requiring analytical thinking.

A session to identify skills gained from past experiences that apply to new roles and industries, as well as gaps that may need to be addressed. Advising includes strategies for skill development through training, certifications, or hands-on experience.

Guidance on building and leveraging professional connections through informational interviews, LinkedIn engagement, and industry events. This session may include role-playing conversations, outreach strategies, and tips for maintaining relationships.
