Brittany Garcia joined the Office of Victim Assistance in September 2018. As a Licensed Professional Counselor, she brings with her many years of clinical experience. Brittany earned her B.S. in Psychology from Colorado State University. She went on to study at the University of Colorado-Denver, where she earned her M.A. in Counseling. Before starting at OVA, Brittany was working with the EDGE program through Mental Health Partner of Boulder and Broomfield County; she would co-respond to situations with law enforcement to assess community members with the goal of diverting non-criminal matters toward mental health resources. And before EDGE, she was a trauma assessment clinician with Jefferson Center for Mental Health. With a history of work in a wide variety of settings including: crisis, outpatient, residential, and acute treatment, Brittany has a comprehensive understanding of the full spectrum of mental health care.
Utilizing her background and training in Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT) as well as Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), Brittany provides a safe space for her clients to develop their emotional tolerance, share their story, and process their traumatic experiences. Brittany believes we can heal through our relationships, and has a passion for connecting with others and helping them to navigate difficult times. She also believes in the power of the therapeutic relationship and places a high value on clients feeling comfortable with their therapist.
