While the Equity Office cannot guarantee complete confidentiality or anonymity in all cases, CU-Boulder has a multitude of resources that can provide confidential consultation, support, and/or advocacy including the following:

  • The Office of Victim Assistance: The Office of Victim Assistance (OVA) offers free confidential information, support, advocacy, and short-term counseling to students, faculty and staff at CU, including their significant others. OVA primarily focuses on situations involving traumatic events, including, but not limited to physical assault and hazing, bias motivated incidents, death, discrimination and harassment including sexual harassment, intimate partner violence, serious accidents, sexual assault, and stalking. OVA can help people learn about resources and assess their options in these situations.
  • The Ombuds Office: The Ombuds Office provides confidential and informal assistance to any student, staff or faculty member or administrator who is experiencing a conflict with another person or persons within the university community or who has concerns about university-related academic or administrative issues (e.g., decisions, services, responsiveness, etc.). Assistance provided includes conflict-related coaching, help with exploring options, mediation and facilitation, information about campus policies and procedures and referrals to appropriate campus resources.
  • Faculty and Staff Assistance Program: The Faculty and Staff Assistance Program (FSAP) provides short-term counseling for faculty and staff as individuals, couples or families. FSAP provides supervisors with consultation services, workshops on communication, team-building, Myers-Briggs, etc. FSAP provides up to six sessions per individual per year for those clients appropriate for a short-term therapeutic model. For those who are inappropriate for the short-term (e.g., chronic mental illness, high risk for suicide, personality disorders, or others needing long-term care), the office helps clients find resources in the community to obtain longer-term counseling.
  • Counseling and Psychological Services: Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS) is staffed diverse staff of counselors, psychologists, and other professionals committed to offering confidential, high-quality individual, couple and group counseling services to UCB students free of charge. CAPS primarily serves students, but also provides crisis assessment and intervention and consultation to students, staff, faculty and administrators. Other services include support groups and workshops.
  • Wardenburg Psychological Health and Psychiatry: Wardenburg provides psychological, psychiatric and substance abuse treatment and education for undergraduate and graduate students to enable them to experience optimal health mentally, emotionally, socially and academically. Wardenburg serves all registered university students taking any number of hours. Students who have purchased the CU Student Gold Health Insurance are seen in the clinic without additional payment, except for $20 copays for individual therapy after 15 visits per policy year.
