Our Mission

Creating Solutions for a Robust and Sustainable Future

The Renewable and Sustainable Energy Institute, or RASEI, is a joint Institute between the University of Colorado Boulder (CU Boulder) and the National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL), addressing important, interdisciplinary, and complex challenges associated with the energy economy.

While the members of RASEI are spread across the NREL and CU Boulder campuses, we have headquarters located on the CU Boulder East Campus in the SEEC Building in Boulder, Colorado. The Front Range fosters a network of academic, National lab and industrial institutions focused on working together to address energy research and development. The RASEI community is a collaborative partner in this innovation ecosystem, working together to develop holistic and robust solutions.

We are on the cusp of next-generation robust energy solutions!

The mission of RASEI is to enable future generations of researcherseducators, and policy makers to create solutions that meet increasingly demanding global, energy, and sustainability challenges. The community is expediting solutions that foster next generation solutions energy by advancing energy science, engineering, and analysis through research, education, and industrial and academic partnerships

RASEI is facilitating change by cultivating a community centered around team science and collaborative research. By connecting researchers from a wide range of different disciplines we bring together a broad range of perspectives and ideas, an approach that is essential to address large, complex, and impactful challenges.
