About Workforce Development at CU Boulder

The University of Colorado Boulder’s Workforce Development Hub provides inspiration, education and resources for staff, faculty and researchers to build and grow flexible and impactful learner programs.

We use a people-first approach to upskilling and reskilling learners to help more individuals, industries and communities thrive.

How we contribute

Incubating and delivering flexible skill-building opportunities

Increasing access and support for disadvantaged populations to upskill and reskill

Forecasting and developing skills for emerging technologies

Creating multi-faceted coalitions to develop “k through grey” skill pathways

Demystifying workforce development

What do we really mean by "workforce development"? Opportunities and examples include:

Creating a micro-credential or certificate

Offering experiential learning like micro-internships

Offering a course in a flexible, self-paced, distance format

Communicating how skills translate to career opportunities

Partnering with other skill building and equity-serving institutions to develop skill pathways

Offering learners access to basic support needs like childcare and transportation

Identifying research themes in emerging technologies and creating skill development blueprints

Supporting partnerships for state and federal funding priorities like the CHIPS Act
