About AED

History and Mission of Alpha Epsilon Delta

Established in 1926 at the University of Alabama, Alpha Epsilon Delta, the National Pre-Medical Honor Society, has since become the world’s largest body dedicated to pre-medical education, with a membership exceeding 100,000 in 166 chapters.

The University of Colorado at Boulder was chartered on March 22, 1934 and became the 11th chapter of Alpha Epsilon Delta's legacy. Over the years, the organization has united students that share a passion for the health sciences. Despite differences in professional interests, all members of AED have a strong commitment to academic achievement pursuit of knowledge.

The mission of the Society is to encourage and recognize excellence in premedical scholarship; to stimulate an appreciation of the importance of prehealth education; to promote communication between health and prehealth students and educators; to provide a forum for students with common interests; and to use its resources to benefit health organizations, charities and the community.

Our Chapter

The Colorado Alpha Chapter of Alpha Epsilon Delta at CU Boulder is proud to offer comprehensive social, volunteering, philanthropy, development, and networking opportunites to all pre-health students at CU Boulder. Everyone is welcome to join, but we are nearly all planning on pursuing careers in the health professions.

Our chapter does a lot throughout the year!

  • Socials: game nights, trivia, poker, haunted houses, hikes, spring retreat, etc.
  • Philantropies: 5Ks, fundraisers, donation drives, a required pledge-organized philanthropy, etc.
  • Volunteering: Habitat for Humanity, partnerships with local organizations and other clubs on campus, etc.
  • Health Fair: an annual health fair for members of the Boulder community. It's 100% student-run!
  • Chapter meetings: every other Sunday, we invite health professionals in to speak.
  • Pledge meetings: every other Sunday, new members meet to learn more about pre-health tracks and stay on track for graduate school applications.
