Stephen MillerWe are saying a fond farewell to Stephen Miller, who, after six years with Venture Partners at CU Boulder, is pursuing an opportunity at Vanderbilt University. On behalf of CU Boulder, I thank Stephen for his many contributions to our community.

Stephen joined the university in a new position to create more opportunities for community partners and mentors to work alongside our faculty innovators. He has since built a wonderful network of engaged mentors who today contribute in many ways to translate research into new commercial ventures. Each year, there are hundreds of valuable engagements between these mentors and our university faculty, students and staff.

In each of the last six years, Stephen has brought together university startups and investors from across the country in the Destination Startup investor showcase. These annual events serve the entire Mountain-West region and demonstrate the “give first” mentality that drives entrepreneurship in Colorado. Even during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, Stephen was able to pull off a great Destination Startup with a fully virtual event.

As we say goodbye to Stephen, we will welcome a new director of venture development in the near future to continue CU Boulder’s trajectory as a premier university for impactful spinout companies.

We will greatly miss Stephen’s enthusiasm, friendliness and dedication.

Thank you, Stephen, and all the best on your next adventure!
