Funded by the CU Boulder Office for Public and Community-Engaged Scholarship, ALTEC will be offering a free American Sign Language (ASL)/ Deaf Culture crash course this summer. A collaborative effort with the Colorado Association of the Deaf, this course will provide participants with essential ASL communication skills as well as a deeper understanding of Deaf culture. The course will be led by ALTEC faculty member Pamela Macias and feature guest speakers from the Deaf community.  

Class schedule

Our course instructor, Pamela Macias, will host dynamic Zoom sessions twice a week on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6:30 - 7:45 p.m. MST. Students will also have access to supplemental class materials for self-paced learning. We anticiapte this asynchronous work to total 2-3 hours a week.

Space in our grant-funded transformative course is limited. To ensure equitable access, we kindly request all interested individuals complete our application form for consideration. Applications should be completed by May 17. We will notify applicants via email no later than May 22 of their enrollment status.
