The base compensation rate for temporary faculty and additional teaching assignments for current faculty can be found below. Departments may post on their website compensation rates different from those listed here. Please contact your department of interest for additional information. 

Level A

Teaching for Level A units can expect a starting compensation of $4,970 for teaching a 3 credit hour course (25% time). Additional compensation for additional credit hours is calculated at $500 per additional credit hour. In addition, additional compensation based on large class census may apply; large classroom census is calculated for class census over 99 students. 100–149 students is compensated at an additional $500; 150-199 students is compensated at an additional $1,000, classroom census above 200 students will be calculated at $10 for each student above 200.

Note: Lecturers given TA support will not be eligible for additional compensation based on classroom size. 

Level B

Teaching for Level B units can expect a starting compensation of $ 5,850 for teaching 3 credit hour course (25% time). Additional compensation for additional credit hours is calculated at $600 per additional credit hour. In addition, additional compensation based on large class census may apply; large classroom census is calculated for class census over 99 students. 100-149 students is compensated at an additional $600; 150-199 students is compensated at an additional $1,200, classroom census above 200 students will be calculated at $12 for each student above 200.

Note: Lecturers given TA support will not be eligible for additional compensation based on classroom size. 

Level C

Teaching for Level C units can expect a starting compensation of $ 7,010 for teaching 3 credit hour course (25% time). Additional compensation for additional credit hours is calculated at $750 per additional credit hour. In addition, additional compensation based on large class census may apply; large classroom census is calculated for class census over 99 students. 100-149 students is compensated at an additional $750; 150-199 students is compensated at an additional $1,500, classroom census above 200 students will be calculate at $15 for each student above 200.

Residential Academic Programs (RAPS)

Teaching for units within the Residential Academic Programs (RAPS) can expect a starting salary based on the base compensation of divisional teaching assignments. For example, when teaching a 3-credit course (25% time) based in the following divisions, compensation is as follows:

  • Level A: $4,970
  • Level B: $5,850
  • Level C: $7,010

Teaching assistant support is not available to RAP lecturers, and additional compensation per credit hour while teaching in the Residential Academic Programs will be calculated at $1,000 per additional credit hour.  
Note: Compensation outside of posted salary ranges will require justification approved by the Associate Dean or Dean of Division.
