Griselda San Martin (MJour’13) is a Spanish documentary photographer based in New York City. Her project, The Wall, includes a photography series by the same name and a short documentary titled The Other Side, which she produced, directed and edited. The project focuses on Friendship Park, a portion of the U.S./Mexico border between San Diego, California, and Tijuana, Mexico, where families meet through the metal fence that separates the two countries. The photography series is the winner of The FENCE 2018 Juror’s Choice award.

After graduating with a Communication and Psychology double major, Sean Martin (Comm) worked as an IT consultant at a Boulder startup. He did this for 2 years before landing back at CU as full time staff doing IT work and project management! Martin now is a System Administrator at Facilities Management at CU Boulder. He is now engaged to his fiance and has settled into a home in Longmont.

Emmy winner Savannah Sellers (Jour) was recently announced as co-anchor of NBC News' Stay Tuned, Snapchat’s first daily news show. Featuring current events and entertainment news, it will run every day at 7 a.m. and 4 p.m., Monday through Friday, and at 1 p.m. on weekends. “It’s the first daily show of any kind on the platform,” said Nick Ascheim, senior vice president of digital at NBC News. “Snap has been very public that it wants to invent mobile television.”

The Green Bay Packers signed a contract extension making David Bakhtiari (Comm ex) one of the NFL’s highest-paid tackles. In 2013, David started every game at left tackle, becoming the first rookie to do this for Green Bay since 1978.

Beth Bartel (MJour) works as an outreach specialist at UNAVCO, a Boulder-based scientific facility supporting research in natural hazards and other sectors of Earth science. she dabbles in much of what she worked on in the journalism program at CU--video production, photography, public relations, design, web content, and social media. Her favorite parts of the job are supervising interns, teaching science communication, fostering local, regional, and international partnerships, working at the interface of science and society, promoting diversity, and also trying to drive cultural change through effective communication.

After graduation, Catherine Marylander (Advert) moved to San Francisco and landed a position with GoPro. She is now the director of global social marketing, responsible for overseeing the strategy for organic social content worldwide. Marylander and her team have won awards for their social media content, all while traveling around the world looking for compelling stories and managing global teams. In her free time, she enjoys teaching yoga and spending time with her puppy, Bruna.

She has worked in media and publishing for several years and has served as a content strategist, online content director and editor of several magazines, including Adweek and Writer’s Digest.

Morgan (Tholen) Dannewitz (Comm) is a suite services coordinator for the Super Bowl LIV champions, the Kansas City Chiefs. She and her husband, Ryan (Psych’12), live in Overland Park, Kansas. After five years of NFL experience, Morgan now manages business relationships and contract assets. She spent most of her college years in CU’s Sports Information Office as a student assistant.

Lauren Lanier (Jour) is a digital sales strategist for Learfield, a sports marketing firm that manages multimedia media rights and sponsorship initiatives for more than 130 collegiate institutions nationwide. Lauren’s focus is on managing digital and social media markets for college programs in the Western region, including the Colorado Buffaloes. Before taking this position she was a communications coordinator for College Football Playoff.

Fashion photographer Sammy Keller (Comm) has always loved taking photos. She works for the Denver-based vintage shop Orenda Lou and has also worked with Urban Outfitters. When she isn’t doing freelance work, Sammy works full time at Rooster Magazine in Boulder.

Following graduation, Brock Anderson (Jour) began a series of postgraduate internships with NFL teams, serving as a media relations intern with the Denver Broncos in 2015, the Green Bay Packers in 2016 and the San Francisco 49ers for part of 2017. He then took a position with the newly relocated Los Angeles Chargers, where he serves as a football communications manager.

Miller Pierce (Comm) moved to New York City following graduation. After a stint at Vogue, she joined the social network Bumble as the content and special projects coordinator. In fall 2019, she moved to Austin, Texas, to work at Bumble's headquarters.

Freelance journalist Gloria Dickie (MJour) recently received a National Geographic Early Career Explorer Grant to fund her reporting on human-bear conflict in northern and western India. She previously spent two years reporting on trash management and black bears in the American West for her master’s project in CMCI. Gloria has reported on bears from around the globe, including polar bears in Svalbard, Norway, grizzly bears in Yellowstone National Park and panda bears in the Min Mountains of China.

In April, Elizabeth Hernandez (Jour) returned to Boulder to report on the university that taught her a thing or two about reporting. Prior to landing the Boulder Daily Camera’s higher education job, Elizabeth dug deep as a fellow at the Center for Public Integrity, an investigative newsroom in Washington, D.C. Before that, she called the Denver Post home for two years, first as an intern and then as a staff reporter covering breaking news and education. When she’s not filling her reporter’s notebook, she enjoys reading and writing but detests arithmetic.
