Student Resources at CU Boulder

The Broadening Opportunities through Leadership and Diversity (BOLD) Center fosters success by providing various academic resources, student leadership opportunities and a supportive community in order to break down the barriers that keep too many of today’s talent from reaching their aspirations.  Our programs promote the recruitment, retention, and development of engineering students at CU Boulder, and equip them for success through graduation and beyond.

The Miramontes Arts & Sciences Program (MASP) is an inclusive academic community comprised of high-achieving students dedicated to pursuing academic excellence at CU. MASP supports motivated traditionally underrepresented and/or first-generation students who want to be part of a diverse, multi cultural academic enrichment community in the College of Arts & Sciences.

The CU LEAD Alliance is a unique set of academic learning communities whose students, faculty and staff are united to promote inclusive excellence. These “academic neighborhoods” build camaraderie and promote student success during the first-year and throughout students’ academic journey.

Eight affinity-based, professional engineering and STEM societies have their CU Boulder chapter offices in the BOLD Center. These societies provide a variety of functions, including hosting guest speakers, organizing social events, sponsoring student attendance at national conferences, and sponsoring entries in national competitions. They’re a great way to start making a world of difference as an engineer, even before you graduate! Membership in professional societies is open to anyone who supports the organization’s mission.

the BOLD Student Success Center (SSC) provides free, drop-in tutoring for a wide variety of engineering courses throughout the academic year. Open to all engineering students Sunday through Friday, the SSC is a space for students to ask questions, get extra help or polish their skills in a friendly and mutually supportive setting. With a convenient schedule and friendly, encouraging tutors, the SSC is a great resource for anyone who wants a leg up on their coursework. The SSC is currently available online through zoom.

The Mathematics Academic Resource Center (MARC) is a free service provided by the Department of Mathematics that offers students additional support for their CU Mathematics courses. Year round, the MARC employs undergraduate students that have a strong background in mathematics and care about helping others learn. We also have a dedicated contingent of graduate students and Learning Assistants to assist problem solving in the Fall and Spring Semesters. MARC tutors are able to assist in all lower division Mathematics courses as well as many upper division courses. LaTex assistance is also available. The MARC is currently available online through zoom.

The CU Boulder Writing Center offers writers from all academic disciplines and skill levels the opportunity to work one-on-one with professionally trained writing consultants. We help writers at all stages of the writing process from brainstorming through revision. Writing Center sessions strive to address writers' stated needs while attending to relevant disciplinary, rhetorical, grammatical, and stylistic concerns. Consultants provide feedback and advice that promote writers' abilities to communicate successfully and think critically in response to complex, evolving expectations of readers in academia, the workplace, and society.

The Colorado Diversity Initiative, under the Office of Diversity, Equity and Community Engagement (ODECE), oversees several programs on the CU Boulder campus to promote diversity in science, technology, engineering and math (STEM).

At the Center for Inclusion and Social Change (Center), our goal is to support all students in the exploration of their identities and create a welcoming and inclusive space on campus that provides academic and personal growth. We offer community-building programs, numerous educational opportunities for students to learn and teach, and a space for students to become active, informed global citizens by engaging with individuals from different cultures.
