The Department of Geological Sciences graduate program values diversity, equity, and inclusion in maintaining academic excellence and an intellectually and culturally enriching environment. We recognize that diversity of personal background and experience extends to different races and ethnicities, nationalities, gender identities, military service, disabilities, and body types. We expect all students, faculty, and staff to respect each other and to work to combat systemic racism and other biases. In cooperation with the Department’s standing Diversity, Equity, and Inclusivity (DEI) Committee, our graduate program engages in multiple programs and activities that focus on enhancing the support network for graduate students. Our goal is to foster a welcoming and inclusive climate, educate current graduate students of all backgrounds, and actively promote a more diverse student body.
