Data Science

Data Science is interdisciplinary in nature, drawing on the fields of statistics, applied mathematics, data science, computer science, information science, geospatial analytics, natural language processing, business analytics and more. Our curriculum leverages CU Boulder faculty expertise to offer technical depth and functional breadth while emphasizing cross-functional communication and teamwork—skills vital to data scientists, who increasingly work with stakeholders across a wide spectrum of domains.

CU Boulder data science students choose from multiple modalities, including a traditional on-campus degree and our innovative MS-DS on Coursera. Regardless of which option they choose, students engage with a rigorous, comprehensive curriculum and obtain high-level technical skills. Our alumni build complex quantitative algorithms to organize and synthesize large amounts of information and employ machine learning techniques to classify and predict behaviors, helping to answer questions and drive strategy in a wide variety of organizations. We are data science Buffs.
