Photographer and mixed-media artist Renee Cox will give a lecture on Tuesday, Nov. 15, as part of the Department of Art & Art History's Visiting Artist Program.

TEDxCU, an independently-organized annual TED event, is seeking speakers "who have an idea worth spreading" to apply to talk at this year's spring 2017 occurrence.

Author Ronald J. Stewart will speak about his book "Then Comes a Wind," a story about a family's struggle to homestead in 1900s Nebraska, on Nov. 10. Stewart will sign copies of his book (which will be for sale at the event) immediately following the presentation.

A finalist for the Visiting Scholar in Conservative Thought and Policy position will give a talk Nov. 10 on his point of view: The president’s “dangerous doctrine” has compromised the muscular internationalism that defined U.S. national security policy after World War II.

David Ciplet, assistant professor of environmental studies, will discuss how to ensure a socially just transition to affordable and clean energy on Saturday, Nov. 5, at 9 a.m., as part of the CU on the Weekend lecture series.

This Thursday, Nov. 3, Boulder Campus Staff Council and CU Student Government will host a town hall debate on Amendment 69, also known as ColoradoCare. The debate will be held from 5 to 6:15 p.m. in the Abrams Lounge in the Center for Community (C4C). Ron Vejrostek, a spokesperson for ColoradoCare, and Michael Cooke, campaign manager for Coloradans for Coloradans (a group opposed to Amendment 69), will debate the amendment and its impact on Colorado residents. A question-and-answer session will follow.

Postponed until December: Chris Moody, VP of Data Strategy at Twitter, joins the CWA Speaker Series on Thursday, Nov. 3, at 6:30 p.m. in Old Main. Moody is considered a pioneer in the social data industry and has worked closely with leading social platforms such as Twitter, Tumblr, Foursquare, WordPress, Disqus and more to formulate and execute their data strategies.

On Nov. 2, LASP research scientist and recent CU Boulder Aerospace Engineering Sciences PhD graduate James Mason will speak on the early results from LASP's latest CubeSat project, MinXSS, which focuses on the energetic processes that occur in the sun's atmosphere.
